Obituary of Marjorie Sylvanus
Marjorie Sylvanus, 78, of Aurora, CO passed away on July 8, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO.
Marjorie was born on June 7, 1928 in Amy, CO to Frank C. and Estella M. (Jobes) Roberts one of four children. She grew up on the plains of Colorado and graduated from Hugo High School in 1946.
Marjorie married Asel Hitchcock on December 11, 1948 in Farmington, New Mexico and they had one son; Donald.
Following her marriage she obtained a degree in Nursing. She was employed by the Lincoln Community Hospital and latter owned and operated the Hitchcock House in Hugo Colorado for many years.
After Asel passed away in 1984 Marjorie married Ken Sylvanus on November 11, 2002 in Hugo, CO. Marjorie enjoyed scrap booking, crocheting and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved traveling especially to Branson, MO. Marjorie was the family historian doing research on the family genealogy and helped organize and run the Pride of the Prairie annual picnic.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, first husband; Asel Hitchcock, sister; Bernice, sister-in-law; Amma, two brothers; Merlyn and Thurman Roberts, one granddaughter; Melissa Ann Hitchcock, and step son; Larry Sylvanus.
Marjorie is survived by her husband; Ken Sylvanus of Aurora, CO, son; Donald (Barbara) Hitchcock of Loveland, CO, step-son; Duane Sylvanus of Aurora, CO, step-daughter; Becky Zimmerle of Englewood, CO, one grandson; David (Kimberly) Hitchcock and their children; Avery, Davin and Haven of Greeley, CO, Shawn (Kristi) Daniel and their children; Taylor and Courtney of Littleton, CO, Nicole (Neal) McMillian and children; Justice and Haylie of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by two sisters; Wilma Hitchcock of Aurora, CO and Freda Ekbrug of Albuquerque, NM.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hugo, CO. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2006 from 1:00 â 4:00 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home.
