Obituary of Jerry Still
Longtime Kit Carson County and Sherman County resident Jerry Lee Still passed away on July 26, 2006 at his home in Kanorado. He was 66 years old.
Jerry was born on August 30, 1939 in Goodland, KS to James Andrew and Lelah Ilene (Hawks) Still. He was one of three children.
Jerry attended school in Goodland, Kansas, Sun Valley, California; and graduated from Burlington High School, Burlington, Colorado. He then went on and attended Lamar Junior College where he played baseball and rode bareback broncs in college rodeo.
On September 13, 1987 Jerry married Janis Kay Kindred in Burlington. Jerry spent most of his life as a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, raising miniature horses, collecting antiques, attending auctions, playing ball and teaching his children how to play softball and baseball, and most of all he liked spending time with his family. Jerry will be remembered as a hard working and selfless man.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents R.A. and Freda Still, and one grandson Justin Ryan.
He is survived by the love of his life, Janis of the home, one son Randolph Allen Still and his wife Susie of San Antonio, TX, three daughters, Lynn Ryan and husband Jim of Burdette, KS, Misty Still also of Burdette, KS and Marilyn Youngman and her husband Gary of Gering, NE; nine grandchildren, Jerry, Jason, Alisa, Mandi, Chelsea, Jacob, Scott, Nick and Hayley; one brother Roger Chipps of Greeley, CO and one sister Connie Korbelik and her husband Harvey of Burlington, CO, a step-father Jay Schweitzer of McPherson, KS, many uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Memorial services for Jerry were held on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the St. Catherineâs Catholic Church in Burlington with Father James Ponce officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington. A Rosary service was held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorials may be made in Jerryâs name and may be left at the First National Bank in Burlington.
