Obituary of Robert Mack
Robert Dean (Bob) Mack passed away suddenly on his farm west of Cope, CO August 15, 2015. He was born January 2, 1930 and was 85 years old.
Robert started his life in a sod house on this farm and attended school in Cope. In 1948 he married Phyllis Anderson and started raising a family of three girls, Alice, Deana, Cheryl. The family moved to Denver for about a year where he did contractor work building houses. From there he came back to the Cope area and worked for Bernard Shaffer while living in a trailer on this farm for another year.
It was then he moved the family and trailer back to the homestead to live there with his parents Mel and Ruth. He worked for Dale Wrape for a time and then helped to build Highway 36. After that he started working for the county maintaining the roads while farming his ground along with his dads ground. He retired from the county in 1991 after his wife passed away but still kept farming.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis, parents Mel and Ruth, brother Richard Mack and his wife Faye, sister Audrey Shaffer and her husband Bernard, sister Marjorie Koger and her husband Francis, Marvin Anderson, Dale and Mabel Wrape, Glen and Doris Shepard, and Carl Reser.
He is survived by three daughters, Alice and husband Duane Thim of Yuma, Deana and husband Dwight Osborne of Ault, Cheryl and husband David Knudsen of Otis, sister-in-laws, Alueda Reser and Jan Anderson, step brothers Roy (Junior) Shaffer and Richard Shaffer, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild plus 1 soon to be great great grandchild in September, along with a host nieces and nephews.
Robert loved to go deer and elk hunting, pheasant hunting, camping and fishing, and most of all doing his farm work. He never let too many weeds grow in his wheat field.
