Obituary of Wanda Dasenbrock
Wanda Carol Dasenbrock, age 85, a longtime Stratton, Colorado resident, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday August 5, 2006 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Colorado.
Wanda was born December 25, 1920 on their farm South of Dodge City, Kansas to Winifred (Burcher) and Jesse Fell Kerr. She was a Christmas baby and her siblings found her in a basket under the tree. Her middle name, Carol, was to commemorate the event. Wanda graduated from Dodge City High School in 1938.
On February 12, 1943, Wanda was united in marriage to Lawrence Bernard Dasenbrock in Roswell, New Mexico. To this union was born Lynette, John, LuAnn, and Lisa.
Wanda died as she lived with strength and dignity. She was a wonderful Mother and cared for many people. Many will remember her as a P.E. teacher and Librarian at St. Charles Academy in Stratton, Colorado.
She was a world traveler. At age 61, Wanda purchased a backpack and sleeping bag and backpacked around the world for the next three and a half months with her daughter LuAnn.
Wanda viewed the world with curiosity and creativity. She left behind tea towels cut, hemmed, and waiting to be embellished by her creative hands. She loved her books, movies, and music. She will be missed by many.
Preceding Wanda in death were her parents, her Husband, one sister Millicent Lawrence, and two brothers Jack Kerr and Gerald Kerr.
Surviving family members include three daughters Lynette Dasenbrock of Lincoln, Nebraska, LuAnn Berens and her husband Dave of Stratton, Colorado and Lisa Riley and her husband Maurice of Wichita, Kansas. A son, John Dasenbrock and his wife Joan of Lawrence, Kansas. Eight grandchildren Lisa Ann Israel and her husband Dan, Jeff Dasenbrock, Jamie Dasenbrock, Lacey Dasenbrock, Paul Berens, Chad Berens, Caitlin Berens and Ashlyn Riley. Her first great grandchild, Isaac Israel will be celebrating his first birthday this month.
Funeral services for Wanda will be Wednesday August 9 at 10:30 AM at the Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street in Burlington, Colorado with burial following in the Calvary Cemetery, Stratton Colorado.
There will be visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time.
A memorial fund is being established in her name and may be left at or sent to the First National Bank in Stratton, Colorado.
