Gail and his humor
Posted: December 3, 2015 | Last Revised: December 3, 2015
Thankyou for always making me laugh Gail. I still have Silk Woody, he is 23 years old now and although stiff and achy these days he still kicks up his heels now and again. He is enjoying his retirement and is a wonderful uncle to the Welsh pony babies I occasionally throw in with him at weaning time.
I always enjoyed my visits to your ranch and I knew how proud of your horses and your Angus stock. I am so sorry that your life was taken by a tragic accident and I wish I could say something humorous to make this tragedy more of a comedy which is how you would have preferred it, Im sure. You saw humor in everything you did and I bet you were laughing when God took you home. Karol, I am so sorry.

Gail, you were always such a happy-go-lucky man. Your jokes and stories had me laughing so much my face would ache. No wonder I have so many wrinkles now. I still have Silk Woody, he is 19yrs old now and he has been a wonderful horse to us all and he makes me think back to you and your family and of course Colorado that was my home for 7 years.
I am deeply saddenend to hear this news. God bless you all.

We met you, Gail and Carol, at the Cowboy Church of Peyton just a few short months ago and you touched our hearts in such a profound way, why and how, I can not say! You gave us a little book for our church-wedding gift in June, what a thoughtful gift it was: "Friends to the End". Carol, we will honor that always... friends! Sylvia & Howie

Forty one years ago, Gail taught this starving, college bound Flagler boy how to operate earth moving equipment. He also taught me that life is to be lived to the fullest and that a sense of humor brightens every day and makes a bad situaton better. He was a great mentor.

Gail was loved and cherished by all that knew him. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and will never forget his rollscanardly. Gail gave us personally a different way to look at life that helped us to deal with the day to day challenges that we might face. We could not help but put a smile on our faces when we saw Gail was coming to see us.

Dear Carol and Family, My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of loss and sorrow. I'm sorry that I didn't make it to the services, but I wasn't aware of when they were until the day of the Memorial service. Let me know if there is anything that I can do for you or your family. I really enjoyed the "joke of the day" when Gail would come in. He should serve as an inspiration to all of us. He had a handicap as far as his sight was concerned, but never let that get him down.

Everything there is to say has probably already been said, mostly by Gail himself. He was our "uncle," our entertainer, and our wise advisor when we needed one. The only person that I ever recall being able to upstage him was his mother. He lived a good life, raised a good family, contributed a lot of good to the world, and we were lucky enough to be there sometimes. Our thoughts are with the family now. Our sincerest condolences. May he rest in peace.

Dear Karol and family, please accept our sincerest condolences. Gail will be profoundly missed. We were fortuante enough to have met Gail and Karol through the Cavalier Trail Riding Club. We went on many rides together. After our rides, we would sit and BBque, and listen to Gail, (with a little loving help remembering from Karol!) tell stories, jokes and riddles for hours! We were also fortunate enough to have a Shotgun baby 8 years ago, and we are expecting 2 more this spring! Gail and Karol were the happiest couple we have ever met! Always a big smile and a kind word. Karol, you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God be with now and always.

My heartfelt sympathies to Gail's family. Gail is in heaven with Our Lord and all his family and friends who went before him, including my dad Clyde Stevens. I will always remember Gail as the big strong man who rescued my sister and I off the back of a bull when my brother spooked him, and I also remember Gail squirting us in the mouth with milk when he was milking the cows. Having been raised in the big city, that was pretty exciting. I also remember he wasnt afraid to show his soft, caring side (especially when Bobby Jo was a baby). Gail will be missed by all who knew, loved and respected him. Enjoy the wide open prairie in heaven Gail!

Karol, Kenny, Kira, Keith: You are in our thoughts and our prayers, and we send our love. If a man is judged by how many friends he left behind, then Gail indeed had a rich life, and you were a great part of it. I never met a man who smiled as much as Gail, and he caused us all to smile. God bless him.
