Obituary of Hattie Ray

Longtime Stratton resident, Hattie Marie Ray passed away on September 16, 2006 at the Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington, Colorado. She was 87 years old.
Hattie was born and raised in Stratton, Colorado, to her parents John and Edna Bohl. She was one of fifteen children. Of the fifteen children, ten of them died at birth or shortly after childhood due to childhood diseases.
In her twenties she met George Hotter of Durango, Colorado and moved there to help him raise his four children from his first marriage. To this union of marriage two children where born Pamela Lynn and Matthew John. In 1968 she and her children moved back to Stratton to be with her mother, Edna Bohl. In 1978 she married Bill Ray.
Her occupation throughout her life was a cook and restaurant owner. Cooking was one of her favorite pastimes also. In 1974 she purchased the Roadrunner Bar and Grill. Fishing and camping were also some of her pastime favorites.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Edna Bohl, her husband Bill and two brothers Martin Bohl and Robert Bohl.
She is survived by her children Pam Smith of Stratton and son Matthew Hotter and his wife Sheryl of Hesperia, California. Also seven grandchildren Cindy Butts, Lance Smith, Brandon Smith, Shawn Hotter, Stacy Hotter, Travis Hotter and Crystal Hotter. She also has nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Hattie will be Wednesday September 20 at 10:00 AM at the Stratton Church of God, in Stratton, Colorado with burial following in the Claremont Cemetery, Stratton Colorado.
There will be visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 â 7:00 PM. time.
A memorial fund is being established in her name and may be left at the First National Bank in Stratton, Colorado.
