Bonnie Marjorie Siemers, age 80 of Bennett, CO passed away November 11, 2006 in Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, CO after a lengthy illness.
She was born December 14, 1925 in Bennett, CO to Albert and Stella (Welch) Kurth. Bonnie lived her entire life in the Bennett area. She graduated from Bennett High School in 1943.
In June of 1943 Bonnie married Warren Demoney and to this union five sons were born; Gerald, Robert, Albert, David and Leonard and one daughter Patti.
With family support the challenge of raising six children in the depression era was met head on with love and determination. Bonnie enjoyed dancing, playing solitaire, latch hooking, canning, making holiday candy, playing accordion and serving her traditional Sunday fried chicken dinner. However, her true love was her family, not only her children and their spouses but also her grandchildren.
Bonnie married Dewey Siemers in 1969.
In 1990 Bonnie suffered an incapacitating stroke, after her stroke she had limited mobility and difficulty with her speech, however she never lost the art of communicating no one after being around Bonnie for any length of time had any doubt what her wishes were. Her determination and will proved many a doctor wrong. She knew her family needed and wanted her with them and only as she could, she fought daily to live her life to the fullest. Due to the love of her family and especially her daughter, Patti she was able to stay in her Bennett home until just a year ago.
One of her joys was her daily phone calls from her sister, Lucile. Lucile visited her often and would take Bonnie on a drive to the country which she so enjoyed. As one of her great grandsons would ask her âdid your buddy come see you today?â? She would just smile a say â oh, yes.â?
Even in her last months in the nursing home and hospital, she spread her love. The doctors and nurses came to love her as much as we do, she was endearingly called âour girl.â? She will be greatly missed.
Bonnie is survived by Gerald and wife Toby of Prescott Valley, AZ, Robert and wife Phyllis of Limon, CO, David of Filer, ID, Leonard of Prescott Valley, AZ and Patti Davidson and husband Garry of Byers, CO. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Shawn Demoney and wife Shiloh, Shelly Reynolds and husband Jeff, Bobbi Keenan, Paula Demoney, Crystal Demoney, Chad Demoney, Craig Demoney, Shane Ludwig and wife Mandy, and Amanda Todd and her husband Robert, and eleven great grandchildren; Justin, Cory and Cheyenne Demoney, Tayla, Tessa and Tate Reynolds, Garrett Keenan, Jordon Flowers, Damiyen Ludwig, Matthew and Kimberly Todd.
She was preceded in death by her son Albert in 1974, both husbands, Warren and Dewey, two sisters; Bessie and Mary, infant brother Leonard and infant sister Marjorie. Also, she is survived by her sister Lucile Wailes of Bennett, CO and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on November 16, 2006 at Mountain View Cemetery in Bennett, CO at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James F. Deters officiating.
