Helen Teter of Hugo, CO passed away November 20, 2006 at the Cherry Creek Nursing Home in Aurora, CO.
Helen Teter was born on September 20, 1920 in New York City, NY, one of three children. Her brother and sister are both deceased. Helen spent her first 35 years in New York before moving on to California. She lived in Los Angeles for 10 years before meeting and marrying Walter Teter of Hugo, Colorado in 1963. Walter passed away in 1989.
Helen spent to years after Walterâs death as a prize winning ceramic painter. The love of her life, however, was her Bassett Hounds. Over the years she adopted six dogs from Bassett Rescue.
In March 2001 she married Eugene Teter, Walterâs brother. They enjoyed two Bassettâs together until July 2003 when a broken hip and several strokes kept her in Lincoln Community Nursing Home for almost 18 months. Helen fought back and regained her ability to walk and live at home once again.
Helen is the mother of five children; Patricia, David, Virginia, Joe and Dorothy who are all married and have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Walter, and all her siblings.
Helen is survived by her husband, Gene of Hugo, CO and her children; David (Ramona) Nicholson of San Antonio, TX, Patricia (Richard) Tankiewicz of Colorado Springs, CO, Virginia (Arthur) Wagner of Woodland Park, CO, Patrick (Marcella) Nicholson of Thornton, CO and Dorothy (Tom) Mannis of Hugo, CO, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 27, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthonyâs Catholic Church of Hugo, CO with Father George Fagan officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Hugo Ambulance Fund P. O. Box 11, Hugo, CO 80821 or the Bassett Rescue Squad at 1950 Riverside Drive, Bassett, VA
