Obituary of E Buchanan
Ellen Frances Buchanan, 96, of Simla Good Samaritan Care Center passed away on March 22, 2007.
Frances was born on June 6, 1910 in Ellsworth, KS to George A. and Mary Ann (Banfield) Jones. Frances graduated from Simla High School in 1928 then went to Colorado Teachers College in Greeley in 1930 which is now University of Northern Colorado.
Frances started teaching in a one room school house near Agate, CO also teaching in Simla, Matheson and Ramah. She retired from Simla Schools in 1975 but never really retired as she then volunteered at the school.
Frances married Lester Earl Cain in Simla on December 25, 1930 and to this union one son was born. Lester passed away in 1971 and Frances married James âBuckâ? Buchanan in Limon, CO on July 20, 1974 where the couple made their home.
Frances was a member of the Simla United Methodist Church and active in the Rebeka Lodge. She loved working in her garden and growing roses. Frances also was an avid reader.
Frances is survived by her son Max and wife Helen Cain of Roseville, CA; grandsons Steve and wife Erin and their children Nolan and Hannah of Roseville, CA; Robert and wife Shamen and their children Ryan, Bradley and Willow Marie of Woodland, CA. Also surviving is Buckâs daughter JoAnne Hendrix and her daughter Shelly of Limon, CO.
A funeral service for Frances will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Big Sandy School Gymnasium, 10:30 A.M., Pastor Charles Hawker, officiating. Burial will follow in the Simla Cemetery in Simla, Colorado.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, 1-4 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO.
