Obituary of James McCormick Jr
James L. McCormick, Jr. was born June 26, 1928 to James L. and Irene (Zurcher) McCormick at Stratton, Colorado. He was one of seven children with three brothers and three sisters.
He was born and raised in a farming and ranching environment which he did all of his life. James went to St. Charles Grade School staying with his Grandmother, Julia Zurcher, most of the time during the school year.
When he was quite young, James started farming on his own and buying and selling cattle, he was in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. When returning from service, he continued to far and then started to raise sheep in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Also, at that time he had irrigation wells drilled and started raising irrigated corn and started a cattle feedlot with his partner and brother, Daniel through 2003 when they sold the feedlot and irrigated farm land.
James was semi-retired from then until his death on September 18, 2015 at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 22 days.
He leaves to mourn, his wife Louise, one daughter Victoria and five grandchildren along with his two brothers, Joe and Daniel together with several nieces and nephews. May he rest in peace.
