Obituary of Orlin Tonsing

Lifelong Burlington, Colorado resident Orlin Henry Tonsing passed away on May 31, 2007 at the Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. He was 75 years old.
Orlin was born on July 14, 1931 in Syracuse, Nebraska to Erwin and Ruby (Karspeck) Tonsing.
Throughout his life Orlin lived in Illinois, Burlington, and Holyoke and eventually settled back in Burlington. He was loved by many, not to mention his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
He was a member of the 1st St. Paulâs Lutheran Church for over 40 years and put all his faith in Jesus. He was a strong believer of the church and made sure that all of his kids were confirmed and baptized.
Orlin served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He taught Sunday school, drove school bus, farmed and helped his father build their family home on the farm. Up until the time of his death, Orlin still enjoyed going out to the sale barn every Thursday during their sales and visiting with his old farming friends. He was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and was a sponsor for several local people.
Orlin is preceded in death by his parents, both wives; Gloria and JoeAnna, two children Pamela Tonsing and Randy Osborn, and one grandson Matthew Osborn.
He is survived by seven sons, Rick Osborn and his wife Betty of Greeley, Colorado; Mike Tonsing and his wife Linda and their children Seth, Aaron and Gloria of Huffman, Texas; Terry Hines of Burlington, Colorado; Bob Hines and his wife Gina and their children Jamie, Logan, Brittany and Treece of Burlington, Colorado; David Hines and his daughter Bobbi of Burlington, Colorado; Dale Tonsing of Burlington, Colorado; and Doug Tonsing of Pueblo, Colorado; three daughters; Patricia Tonsing and her children Chuck and Cherri of Golden, Colorado; Sandra Bailey and her husband Raymond and their daughter Johanna of Bennett, Colorado; Cherry McCormick and her husband Jamie and their children Jacob and Justin of Stratton, Colorado. He is also survived by one daughter-in-law Glenda Osborn and her children Hilary, Marc and Michael of Wray, Colorado. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Tonsing were held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the 1st St. Paulâs Lutheran Church in Burlington with Pastor Jeff Hanson officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorials may be made in Orlinâs name to the Alcoholics Anonymous or to the 1st St. Paulâs Lutheran Church and may be left at the Bank of the West in Burlington.
