Obituary of Margaret Harrel

Longtime Burlington resident, Margaret Claudine Harrel past away on June 2, 2007, at the Grace Manor Care Center. She was 93 years old.
Margaret was born on December 30, 1913 to Austin and Ada (Stewart) Gebhart in Pratt, Kansas. She was one of three daughters.
Margaret was united in marriage to Kenneth Nichols Harrel on March 10, 1933 in Pratt, Kansas. To this union three children were born, John, Kent and Judi. Kenneth and Margaret farmed 17 miles south of Burlington from 1954 through the mid 1970âs.
She also worked the Burlington Equity Co-op for two years as their bookkeeper. She and Kenneth worked at the flea market in Denver for ten years selling tools. Margaret was active in many activities such as Builders & Doers, the Friendship Circle Extension Club and the Christian Womenâs Fellowship. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She loved birds, butterflies and flowers. She loved piecing quilts and finished approximately sixty-five. She enjoyed long stitch needlepoint and crewel embroidery. Her strong faith was evident in the loving and accepting way she lived her life. She loved each and every one of her children and grandchildren and thought a great deal of all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Ada Gebhart, her husband, Kenneth Nichols Harrel, two sisters, Esther Spicer and Edna Gebhart, one grandson Juan Buol and one great granddaughter Tristan Rice.
She is survived by her three children, John Harrel and wife MaryAnn, Kent Harrel and wife Jolena, and Judi and husband Terry Buol. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two very dear friends; Dorothy Isaak and Wanda McClelland.
Funeral services for Margaret were held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church with Pastors Ralph Datema and Terry Buol officiating. Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery, Burlington, Colorado.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the Love Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Memorials may be made in Margaretâs name to the First Christian Church and may be left at the First National Bank, Burlington, Colorado.
