Obituary of Joe Manchego
Joe Manchego, 81, of Ramah, Colorado passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Society in Simla, Colorado with his family by his side.
Joe was born on March 19, 1934 to Antonio Esia and Sophia (Salas) Manchego he was one of ten children. He grew up in Walsenburg and Lyden, Colorado area and then the family moved to Golden, Colorado where Joe graduated from Golden High School.
Joe began his career as a hod carrier and brick layer after graduation.
He met and married Barbara Annette Hadden in Simla, Colorado on January 14, 1978 and the couple enjoyed 37 years of marriage.
Joe loved his family very much, he enjoyed when the family was all together. He was very involved in the church, he loved going to auctions and having cherry pie and coffee with the guys. Joe collected baseball caps and had over 1000. He was a member of the Post 77 American Legion, Open Door Church board member, Ramah Town Board Trustee for two terms, the Ben Lomond Gun Club and Laborers International Union Local 720.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, son Jake, sisters; Martha, Dina, Theresa and brothers; David and Eloy Manchego.
He is survived by his wife Annette Manchego of Ramah, Colorado and children (from previous marriage); Joe Jr. (Barbara) Manchego of Fort Collins, Colorado, John (Becky) Manchego of Fort Collins, Colorado, Sofia (Donald) Thomas of Joliet, Illinois, and Marla Manchego of Fort Collins, Colorado, and he also was father to Charles Hadden of Denver, Colorado, Douglas Thompson of Ramah, Colorado, Donald (Lois) Gouker of Simla, Colorado, and Deborah (Dave) Maffett of Sterling, Virginia as his own. Joe is also survived by his brother Tony (Sid) Manchego of Canyon City, Colorado and sisters; Cathrine Shopper of Missouri, Julia Auger of Colorado and Cordelia Jacobs of California along with 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
