Obituary of Rex Orchard
Lifelong Kanorado, Kansas resident Rex D. Orchard passed away on September 5, 2007 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. He was 84 years old.
Rex was born on January 2, 1923 in Kanorado to Clifford and Lora (Wooley) Orchard. He was an only child. Rex attended school in Kanorado and then went on to Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, were he completed two years of college.
On September 23, 1944 Rex married Darlene Lindsten at the Kanorado United Methodist Church in Kanorado. To this union one son Gary was born. Rex was a member of the Kanorado United Methodist Church. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing and bowling. He also enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and softball in Goodland and Kanorado. He was also a member of the Kanorado Lions Club.
In his early years, Rex worked as a bookkeeper for the Kanorado Coop, and later as a General Manager for 15 years until his retirement. He also did the Kanorado City Books for several years and helped other individual businesses with their books. After he retired, he enjoyed driving trucks for harvest.
Rex is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Darlene and their son Gary of the home in Kanorado.
Memorial services for Mr. Orchard were held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at the Kanorado United Methodist Church with Pastor Leonard Cox officiating. Burial was held in the Kanorado Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
Memorials may be made in Rexâs name to the Kanorado United Methodist Church and may be left at or sent to Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
