Obituary of Bernard Kollath
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bernard F. Kollath Monday ~ January 07, 2008 ~ 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church ~ Limon, CO.
Visitation will be held Sunday ~ January 06, 2008 from 4:00 ~ 6:00 P.M. with Rosary being said At 5:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church ~ Limon, CO.

Bernard F. Kollath, 83, of Limon, CO passed away on January 02, 2008, in Limon after a few months battle with lung cancer.
Bernard was born to Joseph and Martha (Langer) Kollath on January 28, 1924, in Limon, CO where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Limon High School in 1941.
Shortly after graduating from high school Bernard chose to serve his country and enlisted in the US Army on November 24, 1942. He rose to the rank of staff sergeant while serving with the 281st Engineers in the European Theatre of Operations, primarily in Germany during WWII, until his honorable discharge January 31, 1946.
Bernard and LaVerda Weber met at the annual fall festival at the Limon Catholic Church and were married the following year on October 2, 1951, in Sheridan Lake, CO. To this union eight children were born.
Bernard operated the Conoco Station for several years. He opted to become a farmer and rancher, which became a passion of his life. Bernard also drove a school bus for Limon Public Schools eventually becoming the transportation foreman until his retirement. Bernard was active in his community and church. He was a member of the Lionâs Club, Big Sandy Water District and was elected and served two terms on the Limon Town Board. He was a volunteer fireman, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Limon Heritage Society volunteering at the Limon Railroad Museum.
Bernardâs greatest love was his family. Spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren brought him lots of enjoyment. He also liked playing cards, dancing and visiting with extended family and friends.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Yarian, sister Helen Nielson, brother Leo Kollath and grandson William Matthew Jackson.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 56 years, LaVerda of Limon, CO and their children; Paula and Keith Simpson of Highlands Ranch, CO, Daniel Kollath of Limon, CO, Janice Kollath of Pueblo, CO, Glenda and Bill Jackson of Fort Madison, IA, James Kollath of Matheson, CO, Joseph Kollath of Limon, CO, Patricia and Rick Sandersfeld of Limon, CO, and Christopher and Nicole Kollath of Limon, CO. He is also survived by his brother Jim Kollath of Sedalia, CO, seventeen grandchildren, and many extended relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 07, 2008, 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Limon, CO.
