Obituary of Thomas Blackhurst

Kanorado, Kansas resident, Thomas Edward âTomâ? Blackhurst passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his home.
Tom was born to James Herbert and Edna (Young) Blackhurst on September 3, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the youngest of seven children born to this union.
Tom graduated from Urbandale, High School in 1956, and earned his BA degree in History from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1960.
Later in life Tom met and married Betty Ann Larsen on December 23, 1970 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. With this union Tom adopted, Mike, Mark, Kathy and they had two more children, T.J., and Carl.
Tomâs hobbies included many things such as fishing, hunting, and Archeology.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Mark Blackhurst on July 4, 2006, one sister Bonnie Wilcox, and one brother Bill Blackhurst.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, his sons Mike Blackhurst of Anchorage, Alaska, T.J. Blackhurst and his wife Sara of Rye, Colorado, Carl Blackhurst and his wife Amber of Sitka, Alaska, his daughter Kathy Cox and her husband Curtis of Orem, Utah and his grandchildren, Faris, twins Timmy and Tommy, Brandon and Natasha Deg, and Rachael. He is also survived by one brother, Jim Blackhurst of Florida, three sisters, Beverly Scott of Wheatridge, Colorado, Donna Winger of Marrionette, Wisconsin, Marilyn Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Tom were held on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Love Funeral Home with Scott Angelos officiating. Burial was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 in Alamosa, Colorado.
