Obituary of Hubert Calkum
Hubert William Calkum was born of the union of William and Hattie Calkum the oldest of four children; Kenneth, Josephine, Coan and Leonard. He graduated from Simla High School in 1944.
Hubert was a WW2 vet who served in the army from Sept. 23, 1944 to Nov. 24, 1946 in the 77th 1st AAF Medal and he received the Asuitatic Pacific Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon WWI B Star, World WW2 Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.
Hubert married Dorthey V. Hamlin of Matheson, CO on August 24, 1947 of this union they raised three children; Colleen, Catherine and William.
Hubert was employed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico for 30 years and later retired in Pueblo, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenneth and his wife Doris.
Hubert is survived by his wife of 60 years and their children; Colleen (Ernest) Rancher, Catherine (James) White and William F. Calkum. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Veronica, Valarie, Eric, Valonda, William and Sharline and eleven great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. He was well liked by everyone he came in contact with. His family wishes to thank Doug and staff of Centura Health and staff at the Pueblo Extended Care especially Dr. Rendler and all those who became a part of his magnificent journey we all give thanks and God Bless.
A Memorial Mass for Hubert will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008, 2:00 P.M. at the Love Funeral Home Chapel in Limon, CO with inurnment to follow at the Pershing Memorial Cemetery, Limon, CO.
