Obituary of Bertha Sorensen
Bertha Sorensen, age 90, of Karval, Colorado passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at her home in Karval. Bertha was born August 10, 1917 in Karval to Hans and Inger (Rypestol) Ugland. She was one of four children. Bertha attended school in Karval until the 8th grade.
Bertha married Edward Sorensen on October 2, 1938 at the Hans Sorensen residence in Karval. To this union three children were born: Jim, Norman and Wanda. The family made their home in Karval where Bertha enjoyed her role as wife and mother involved for many years in the Bluecliff Missionary Society, and Friendship Circle.
She was supportive of her children in 4-H and also served as a leader when the need arose. She was a member of the Karval Nazarene Church and also served there on the board.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Annie Trainer, and brothers, Peter Ugland and Paul Ugland.
Bertha is survived by her two sons, Jim Sorensen of Karval, CO and Norman (Carolyn) Sorensen of La Junta, CO; daughter Wanda (Jim) Hilton of Karval, CO; and six grandchildren, Tony Sorensen of Karval, CO, Kathy (Jack) Pfost and children Taylor Russell and Jace Pfost of Karval, CO, Brian Sorensen of Karval, CO, Erik (Rebecka) Hilton and children Joshua and Aaron Hilton of Karval, CO, Amy (Jeff) Lee and children Shelbi and Cole Lee of Montrose, CO and Denise Sorensen of Charlotte, NC.
Graveside services for Bertha will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Karval Community Cemetery in Karval, Colorado. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO.
