Eileen Lanetta (Simerl) Cure departed this life on April 26, 2008, at Western Hills Health Care Center in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 88 years and 22 days.
She was born on April 4, 1920, in Fowler, Kansas, the third child of Charles and Mary (Thomas) Simerl.
She was united in marriage to William E. Cure on September 2, 1941, in Fowler, Kansas. They made their home in Kansas until 1948, when they and their family moved to Colorado and a farm south of Seibert, Colorado. In 1954 they moved to a farm north of Stratton, Colorado, where she was an able help-mate, devoted wife and mother. Eileen and Bill retired from the farm in 1986, moving to a home in town. They shared this home until his death in 1994, then she moved into the Beehive Assisted Living Home in Stratton in 2001 where she resided until moving to Lakewood.
Eileen enjoyed many years of membership in M.S.A. Club, as well as serving as a 4-H club leader while her children were members. She was a faithful Catholic, serving in Altar and Rosary Society and other groups, and an avid gardener, raising roses and joining the Stratton Garden Club after moving into town. One of the particular joys of her life was going to the many sports and school activities of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Cure, two infant sons, one infant granddaughter, her parents, her sister Ethel and brother Ray. She leaves to mourn her passing seven children: Charles and wife Karen of Arizona; Elizabeth Riley of Kansas; Ethel Martin and husband Jerry of Stratton; Robert and wife Dee of Commerce City; David and wife Debbie of Fort Collins; Denis and wife Vickie of Stratton; and Ronald and wife Lisa of Washington.
