Obituary of Kathleen Thompson
Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Kathleen (Kathy) Mary (Wiedel) Thompson, age 79, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at St. Anthonys Central Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.
Kathy was born September 2, 1936, in Hebron, Nebraska to Bernard F. and Elizabeth M. (Sohl) Weidel. She was one of nine children born to this union.
Kathy attended Sacred Heart Church in Hebron and Hebron High School, graduating in 1954. On June 7, 1958, Kathy was united in marriage to Lee Dell Thompson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, Nebraska. They had six children: Angela, Michelle, Richard, David, Rod, and Bruce.
Kathy was a homemaker and housewife, devoting much of her time to her childrens activities. In her later years, she enjoyed following her grandchildrens sporting events and activites. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton, the St. Charles Altar and Rosary Society, and was an active member of the Stratton Senior Center.
Preceding Kathy in death was her husband of 50 years, Lee, her parents, two sisters Loraine Schnegelberger and Bernadine Timmerman, and a brother Henry Wiedel, 3 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law.
Surviving family members include daughters Angela Brinkhoff of Stratton, CO, and Michelle Cure and husband John of Idalia, CO, sons Richard Thompson of Dallas, TX, David Thompson of Eaton, CO, Rod Thompson and wife Paulette of Stratton, CO and Bruce Thompson of Stratton, CO. Also surviving are grandchildren Shane Brinkhoff, Nathan Brinkhoff, Kelly Brinkhoff, Joshua Fullmer, Kaitlyn Fullmer, Tyson Cure and wife Genevieve, Tonya Trostel and husband Evan, Ryan Cure and wife Angela, Blake Cure, Scott Cure, Samantha Cure, Trenton Thompson, Jenna Thompson, Trey Thompson, Trevor Thompson, Torrie Thompson, Courtney Thompson, Lauren Thompson, and Dawson Thompson, six great-grand children, brothers Herbert Wiedel and wife Delores of Hebron, NE, Edward Wiedel and wife Norma of Hebron, NE, and Ernest Wiedel and wife Darlene Hebron, NE, sisters Genevieve Dvorak of Lakewood, CO and Jeannette Dutcher and husband Don of Broomfield, CO, sister-in-law June Vitosh and husband Milt of Odell, NE, many nieces and nephews and a host of many special friends.
