He was born in Kasson, West Virginia to James and Dora (Martin) on May 7, 1938.

Charles and his family moved from Hugo, Colorado to Idaho Springs and then to Flagler. Then Charles decided to take his family and ventured back to West Virginia. They lived in a town called Nestorville. However, they decided Colorado was better for everyone, as there families were all in Colorado, so they moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where he worked at the steel mills.
His main profession was working as a mechanic so they moved to Cheyenne Wells in 1964, and he went to work at Gerweck Motors. He remained until his health failed and he retired.
He was on dialysis for almost six years and on September 5, 2007 the transplant team called and they had a kidney. Oh what a wonderful day and a happy year for him.
His greatest love (besides his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren) was hunting fishing and camping. Come September 1st through December 31st, he was hunting anything from doves to elk.
