Obituary of Anna Knoll
Burlington, Colorado resident and former Cheyenne Wells, Colorado resident Anna Rachel Knoll passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington. She was 94 years old.
Anna was born on July 10, 1915 in Arapahoe, Colorado to Harvey and Elvira (Minor) Snyder. She was one of seven children. Anna attended school in Arapahoe and graduated from the Arapahoe High School in 1933.
In 1935, Anna married Vernon Williams in Cheyenne Wells, and to this union four children were born; Darrell, Larry, Connie and Janice. That marriage later ended with the death of Vernon. In 1963, she married Adam P. Knoll in Cheyenne Wells and to this union one step daughter Betty Ann came into the family.
Anna was a member of the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist Church, the Womenâs Culture Club in Arapahoe, and she was also a member of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed spending time bowling, being a 4-H Leader and being a Rainbow Mother. Her competitive spirit and love of sports, especially playing basketball, started at an early age with her siblings at home and in school activities. She loved life, loved her family, and instilled in her children that they could do anything. She also loved her God to the fullest.
Anna was preceded in death by her husbands Vernon in 1958 and Adam in 1992, one son Darrell Williams, three brothers Seymour Snyder, Morton Snyder and Floyd Snyder and one sister Lois Snyder.
She is survived by her son Larry Williams of Burlington, two daughters Connie Seib and her husband Ray of Hoisington, KS and Janice Mitchell of Castle Rock, CO, a step daughter Betty Ann Sponsel and her husband Tony of Blairsburg, IA; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Margie Billinger of Cheyenne Wells, CO and Wilma Graham of Loveland, CO.
Funeral services for Anna were held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist Church in Cheyenne Wells with Reverend Burry Bessee officiating. Burial followed in the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe, Colorado. Visitation was held on Friday, September 04, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington. Casket bearers for Anna were her grandchildren: Brett Williams, Larry Jack Williams, Tim Williams, Brad Seib, Brian Mitchell, Heather Kitchings, Chadwick Williams, Kristi Mitchell and her nephew Cliff Roberts.
Memorials may be made in Annaâs name to the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist Church and may be left at the Eastern Colorado Bank in Cheyenne Wells.
