Lifelong Burlington, resident James Lester Schlichenmayer passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital in Denver. He was 72 years old.
James was born on August 1, 1937 to David and Christina (Bauer) Schlichenmayer in Burlington, Colorado.
James attended the Bethune School and graduated from there in 1956. He was active in basketball during his high school years.
He married Gwendolyn Mae Einspahr on December 14, 1957 in Bethune, Colorado. To this union three children were born, Dave, Lester and Kent.
James had many hobbies he loved dearly. He loved to restore tractors and he also was an Antique Tractor Puller. James was an active community member, always there to lend a hand whenever it was needed to anyone. If you could not find James you might find him on his tractor farming or helping others farm also. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. He also never missed a chance to go hunting or fishing. He was very active in his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Christina (Bauer) Schlichenmayer and his sister, Elsie Weisshaar.
He will be sadly missed by his wife; Gwen of 52 years of their home, his sons; Dave Schlichenmayer of Burlington, Lester (Joanna) Schlichenmayer of Bethune, Kent (Joni) Schlichenmayer of Burlington, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
