Obituary of Hazel Ingram
Hazel Blanche Ingram, age 88, formally of Limon, CO, passed away February 8, 2010 at Oakridge Home in Colorado Springs, CO. Hazel was born January 13, 1922 in Garden City, KS to Orson Luther and Blanche Eleanor (Stiles) Downer.
At the age of two, Hazel and her family traveled by covered wagon to Pueblo, CO then on to Siloam, CO where she attended school through the 8th grade.
On August 5, 1940, Hazel married Alferd Frank Buck Ingram in Raton, NM. They had two daughters, Wanda Hazel and Frances Kay. Hazel and Buck found themselves living in Pueblo, Elbert, Burlington, Limon and Penrose.
Throughout the years, Hazel worked as a bookkeeper for Standard Oil and Meadow Gold. She was a clerk at a 5 & 10, and she took in ironings while in Burlington, Limon and Penrose. She enjoyed ironing, making/decorating cut-up cakes, scrapbooking, embroidery, being a homemaker, riding horses, camping, gardening, playing scrabble and dancing. She also enjoyed attending Hi-Plains Baptist Church in Limon.
Hazel moved back to Limon after the death of her husband, Buck, in 2001. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Francie and Jim Read, until 2006 when she moved to Idaho to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Dick Everitt. In 2008, she was moved to Oakridge Homes in Colorado Springs, CO with Alzheimers Disease. The home treated her like family and she thought of this as home.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two half sisters and their husbands: Erma and Chuck Trusty, and Evalena and Gus Brown; four brothers and their wives: Virgil and Jo Downer, Irvin and Mary Downer, Howard and Clara Downer, and Jay Downer, one great grandson, Virgil Everitt and one great great granddaughter, Maddison Everitt.
She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Wanda and Dick Everitt and Francie and Jim Read; five grandchildren and their spouses, Randall and Lindy Everitt, Darla and Troy Davis, Jodi Everitt and Dorothy Maupin, Pam and Tom Brown, and Nyhma and Glenn Tramel; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters in law, Joan Downer and Wavie McDermott.
