Obituary of John Garrett
Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident John Leroy Garrett, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at his home surrounded by family. He was 73 years old.
John was born February 27, 1937 to John James and Mildred Christina (Moore) Garrett. He was the youngest of three children. John grew up and went to school in Weldona, Colorado. He graduated from high school in 1956. In 1958, John went into the United States Air Force and served in Special Security Service.
On July 10, 1960, John married Jackie L. Wiegers in Palmer Lake, Colorado. To this union five daughters were born; Trenda, TC, Tony, Tina and Traci.
John was a fun loving family man who loved his kids and grandkids, and most especially his wife, Jackie. He is survived by his loving wife Jackie, his daughters Trenda Weisshaar and her husband Dale of Lingle, WY; TC Travis and her husband Tracy of Wray, CO; Tony Di Sera and her husband Lenny of Salt Lake City, UT; Tina Taylor and her husband Jesse of Denver, CO; and Traci Lacock and her husband Tom of Casper, WY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren Daniel, Erin, Megan, Garrett, Ryan, Siena, Sante, and Raja, and two brothers Bob Garrett and his wife Shirley of Wells, NV and Dwayne (Buck) Garrett and his wife Marion of Durango, CO.
As we look back, we realize that whatever John did, he did with a passion, including his roping, motorcycling, fishing, enjoying good food, and running his nursery, J&J Nurseries, with his wife Jackie. After retiring, John and Jackie enjoyed traveling and loved to fish. (We didn't ever know what size of fish for sure.) John has left his friends and family with a lot of memories that we will all cherish and share.
