Obituary of Darlene Warren
Longtime Burlington resident, Orma Darlene Warren, 75, passed away Saturday, May 29th, 2010 in Burlington, Colorado.
She was born June 22nd, 1934, north of Burlington in Kit Carson County, the first of three children to Ralph William Turner and Orma Lela (James) Turner. She attended Burlington High School and was a member of the class of 1953.
Some of her fondest memories were working summers for Uncle Wayne and Aunt Lyla Davis cooking for the hired hands. This is where she met the love of her life, Francis Warren
Francis and Darlene would elope and be married on August 4th, 1952 in Denver, Colorado. They would return to Burlington where they made their home for the next 57 years. To this union were born Peggy Donita (Thompson) Warren, Marquema Jolene Warren, and Michael Duane Warren.
After their marriage Darlene went to work for the telephone company, Mountain Bell, as a switch board operator. As telephone technology advanced Darlene worked in the front office as a representative. After retiring from Mountain Bell, Darlene became a homemaker and worked part time at Burlington Liquor for Harold and Kitty Mitchell.
Preceding her in death was her father Ralph William Turner; mother Orma Lela Turner; daughter Peggy Donita (Thompson) Warren; and husband Francis Duane Warren.
Surviving family members include son-in-law Mort Thompson of Watonga, OK.; daughter Marquema and husband Rex Salling of Stratton, CO; son Michael and wife Sharon (Weyerman) Warren of Burlington, CO; brother Jim Turner and wife Lula of Westminster, CO; and brother Bob Turner and wife Kathy of Wausau, WI.
Grandchildren: Nicholas and wife Cassy Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Kelsey Thompson all of Syracuse, KS.; Chris Salling of Strasburg, CO; Levi Salling of Stratton, CO; Bryant Warren and Kelli Warren of Burlington, CO.
Great-grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Natalie Thompson, Grady Steerman, and Taesen Thompson.
Darlene will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
