Obituary of Julie Tomes

Biography Julie Ann Hitchcock was born in Burlington Colorado on August 6th 1953 to Rex (Curly) and Mary (Lacey) Hitchcock. She was the second of four children including Susan, Stan and Mark. Julie spent her childhood years growing up at the Beveridge Ranch and attended one year at Smokey Hill School. In 1972 Julie graduated from Burlington High School. After high school she worked as a dental assistant for several years with the local dentist Dr. Davis. On March 30,1974 she married her high school sweetheart Jim Tomes. Six years later on September 17th 1980 their first son Joshua Andrew was born. On July 26th 1983 their second son Justin James arrived and completed the family. Along with raising her two sons she spent many hours landscaping around their home. When the boys grew up and began participating in high school sports, Julie became a dedicated fan and follower of all the teams the boys were a part of. After the boys went off to college Julie became a volunteer at the elementary school. While there she helped many students improve their reading skills. Julie enjoyed her time there immensely. Julie was a dedicated member of Saint Catherine's parish. She was part of many church functions, including the church rebuilding committee and the Alter and Rosary Society. One of Julie's proudest moments was becoming a grandmother. Her first grandson Jeremy Justin was born on February 23, 2010. Although her time with Jeremy was short, she treasured every moment she spent with him. Julie was preceded in death by her father Rex Hitchcock. She'll be sadly missed by her mother Mary Hitchock, mother-in-law Joan Tomes, husband Jim, son Josh and his fiance Christy, son Justin and his wife Michelle and their son Jeremy, sister Susan (Joedy) Hartman, brother Stan (Sue) Hitchcock, brother Mark Hitchcock. Julie departed this life on June 8th, 2010 and will be dearly missed.
