Obituary of Harold "Frank" Rogers
Harold (Frank) Franklin Rogers of Limon passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 94 on March 23, 2016.
He was born April 11, 1921 in Shaw, Colorado to Velma and Marion Rogers. He had 4 brothers and 7 sisters.
After completing 8th grade at the age of 15 he volunteered to go into CC Camp, Company 3825 Camp SCS-3-C near Kutch, Colorado to help support his family.
On August 1st 1942 he was drafted into WWII serving in United States Army Battery A-531 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapon Division where he serves 3 years. During his deployment he traveled to Belgium, France, Germany, and Holland. He received numerous medals including The American Service Medal, The European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged Nov 13th, 1945.
He returned to Lincoln County where he worked for numerous farmers and ranchers until he got a job with the John Deere dealership in 1950 delivering farm machinery.
He met the love of his life Evelyn Mary Ann Simmons, they were married June 19th, 1954 in Lincoln County where they made their home. In 1955 they had a son Roy, and two daughters, Betty born in 1956 and Mary in 1964.
He continued to farm and work for the John Deere dealership until 1962 when he hurt in a parts elevator accident. He was severely injured and was in traction until 1965 when he started a new career as a Feed Mill Operator at the Limon Feed Lot until 1987 when he retired.
Frank and Evelyn retired and enjoyed gardening, farming, and family fishing trips. He also enjoyed taking care of his livestock and doing haying each summer. Their greatest joy was in spending time with their Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Wife Evelyn, Son Roy, Son in Law Craig, Parents Marion and Velma, Brothers Kirk, Robert, Harry, Sisters Vera, Ruby, Alice. He is survived by 2 daughters Betty, Mary, Daughter in law Valarie, Brother Albert, Sisters Edna, Violet, Mary Ruth, Frances. Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, numerous Nieces, Nephews and friends.
