Obituary of John "Mack" Williams
John McIntyre Williams was born July 2, 1929 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO and went to be with his savior March 25, 2016.
His parents were John Luther Williams and Lillie Esther (McIntyre) Williams. He had two sisters Elizabeth Esther Carson and Thelma Theresa Laste. He attended the first eight years of school at the Pride of the Prairie before moving to Limon to a small house with his mother and two sisters to attend Limon High school graduating in 1947. The Rutledge’s lived in the same little house and also attended Limon High School while their fathers kept the farms and ranches going five miles from Punkin Center, Colorado. John’s father homesteaded the place in 1910. After graduating from Limon, John Mack returned to ranch and farm with his dad.
Mack was drafted in the army in February 1952 to February 1954, spending 19 months in Germany. Returning to the farm and ranch he purchased the house and land from his Aunt Maude in 1955.
On November 26, 1961 he married his life long love and best friend Barbara Louise Albrecht. To this union was born a daughter, Denise Renee on October 6, 1965. Later another daughter was added to the family, Shelly Vee on May 20, 1968 and a son John McIntyre II on October 13, 1972. Right after Mack and Barbara were married he worked for one year for extra income at the Sugar Beet Factory in Rocky Ford as a brakeman on the train and then around 1968 he started driving the school bus for the Karval School for 25 years.
Mack was active in the community serving in many capacities. Mack was a 4-H Leader for 15 years, 4-H Foundation Board for several years, and as the superintendent of rabbit and poultry at the Lincoln County Fair. Mack was a charter member of the Karval Lions Club since 1978 and Melvin Jones Fellow. He enjoyed their club and attended several conventions.
Mack served as the Democratic Committeeman for many years and was appointed by Governor Roy Romer to serve on the 18th Judicial nominating committee for five years. Mack attended the Karval Nazarene Church for over 50 years serving as usher for many of those years.
Mack loved his work as a farmer and rancher and always loved the little calves that were born each spring and continued to ask about how many new calves were born each day up until the end. Mack retired from the ranching/farming business in 2002 when his son-in-law Kurt took over.
Mack loved his family very much and was a wonderful father and husband. We are lucky to be left with wonderful memories including family trips to Chalk Creek, holiday celebrations and Colorado Rockies Baseball games.
Mack was preceded in death by his parents John and Lillie Williams. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 54 years, his daughter Denise Williams (Robert), daughter Shelly Lofdahl (Kurt), and son John Williams, sisters Betty Carson and Thelma Laste, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
