Obituary of Clovis "Cap" Bradberry
Clovis Dean Bradberry, 87, passed away May 5, 2016 at Aspen Leaf Assisted Living in Flagler, CO.
Clovis, or Cap, as he was known by many, was born in Simla, CO to Edna (Cusic) and Jim Bradberry on April 25, 1929. He grew up in Matheson, CO and graduated from Simla High School.
Clovis married Rita (Hoefler) on May 1, 1949 in Matheson, CO. To this union 5 children were born: Gary Dean, Joyce Marie, Annette Kaye, Cynthia Ruth and Lisa Leanne. The family moved to Limon, CO in 1957. He was employed by Groff Equipment Company at that time. The family became owners of the company in the late 1960s. Clovis and Rita were the recipients of several awards through Sperry New Holland and White Farm equipment, and went on many exciting vacations to locations around the world.
He was a member of the American Hardware and Implement Association, Happy Squares Square Dance Club and the Limon Heritage Society. Clovis and Rita were honored to receive the Volunteer of the Year award from the Limon Heritage Society for their willingness to share their time and skills, and for their help with special events for many years.
Clovis’ interests included bowling, croquet, square dancing, card games, dominos, jig saw puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren. His love of music was passed down to his children and grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed volunteering their time to share that love with the residents at several nursing homes.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Rita, his parents, an infant sibling, foster brother Joe Hammond and sister, Ruth Magnus.
Clovis is survived by his brother, Kenneth W. Bradberry of Driggs, ID, five children: Gary (Becky) Bradberry of Walsenburg, CO; Joyce (Ronnie) Yaden of Pensacola, FL.; Annette (Keith) Andersen of Limon, CO; Cynthia (Mark) Otteman of Flagler, CO; and Lisa (Floyd) Foncannon of Loveland, CO; ten grandchildren: Jason, Cheryl, Brian, Alicia, Angela, Jennifer, Alana, James, Jacob, Joey and six great grandchildren: Andrew, Alex, Ashley, Brenna, Briana, and Benjamin.
