A Kitten for the Kids - May 9, 2016
Posted: May 9, 2016 | Last Revised: May 9, 2016
Grandpa Cap had a stray cat that lived at Groff Equipment Co. She was a very prolific mother and had several litters. Grandpa Cap would say to me every time that Jason and Cheryl, his grandchildren, needed a cat. I was not a real cat lover, so would politely say "no thanks", maybe next litter. Grandpa was pretty insistent, so I said, "Ok, when that cat has a pure white kitten we will take it - knowing full well that the chance of that happening was slim to none. I will never forget the phone call I got a few weeks later. "Hi, this is grandpa. You need to bring the kids down here to the shop to see the new kittens." Now he had never done that before so, of course, my thought was - oh no, I'm going to have to say "no" again in front of the kids, so was thinking maybe I should give in. But much to my surprise, one and only one kitten was pure white. Grandpa was smiling ear to ear. Of course, that little ball of white fluff became our cat. I still wonder how he pulled that one off... Love you, Cap.
