Obituary of Barbara Payne
Barbara Payne, 78 of Rush, Colorado passed away on May 25, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Barbara was born on April 5, 1938 to William H. and Effie M. (Kirschner) Rapp in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She grew up in the Rush area attending Miami School in 1955. Barbara then attended Blair Business College and received her Associate’s Degree.
Barbara married the love of her life, Robert Payne on May 6, 1956 in Rush, Colorado the couple was blessed with four children; Carl, Steve, Susan and Dixie. They raised their family on the farm instilling the values of hard work and dedication to one another.
Barbara was very community minded, serving in many ways. She established a Senior “Tea” & Fashion Show, was awarded the Colorado Master Farm Homemakers Award in 2012, leader in the Rush Community United Methodist Church, served on the Executive Administrative Council and helped lead the church choir. Barbara helped establish the Tri County Fire Protection District, was a member of Colorado Cowbells and State Cattlewoman’s Association, The Neighborly Circle Club, as well as a member of Simla Good Samaritan Advisory board. She supported Robert in his many leadership positions and helped operate their farm and ranch. Barbara was proud to make wedding cakes, raise a garden and can vegetables to help supplement their income.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert of Rush, Colorado, their children; Son Carl (Joanna) Payne of Pueblo West, CO. Their children Chelsey (Adam) Medina and Austin (Kendra Mitchell) Payne of Pueblo West, Colorado; Son Steve (Debra) Payne of Rush, CO. Their children Nolan (Marissa) Payne of Rush, CO and Kyle (Dulcie) Payne, Lyla and Jessa, of Greeley, Colorado; Daughter Susan (Al) Snyder of Simla, CO. Their children Bryan (Sarah) Snyder, Kooper, Londynn, Annistynn Snyder of Castle Rock, CO; RaeLynn Snyder (Randy Anderson) of Westminster, CO. Daughter Dixie (J.L.) Payne and children; Jaxson, Cole and Olivia Payne of Castle Rock, Colorado. Barbara is also survived by a very special family, Katrin (Axel) Meyer-Blaske and children of Dresden, Germany; and many more family and friends.
