Obituary of Ruby Schoonover
Ruby Carol (Simon) Schoonover age of 75 of Hugo, Colorado passed away August 11, 2016 at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, Colorado. She was born April 30, 1941 in rural Limon, Colorado the daughter of Walter Lee “Jiggs” and Edna Lavonia (Shirley) Simon. She attended school and graduated from Limon High School.
Ruby married Wesley Lee Schoonover on January 1, 1961 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Genoa, Colorado and to this union they were blessed three children. They shared over fifty four years of marriage before Wes passed away on June 13, 2015. They made their home in Hugo, Colorado where Ruby owned and operated the Hugo Ceramics and Floral Shop for many years. She was a jack-of-all-trades, worked as a bus driver, a Mary Kay Consultant, a CNA at the Lincoln Community Hospital and coached a few softball teams.
Ruby had many hobbies and will always be known for her love of CERAMICS. She enjoyed show choir, bowling, flowers, playing cards, riding her horses in the rodeo, preparing large meals for family to gather, reminiscing with family and friends, and decorating her home for the holidays. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Ruby’s hard work and spirit will continue on her family and friends forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jigg and Edna, her husband Wes; her brother Earl Lee Simon, two sisters, Beulah Frances VanHorn and Effie Burdella Lange.
Ruby is survived by her three children; Wendy Rohrbaugh of La Salle, Colorado, Jackie Patton (Dan) of Montrose, Colorado and Justin Lee Schoonover of Sterling, Colorado; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
