Obituary of Loren D Michel
Loren D. Michel of Limon, Colorado passed away on November 26, 2017 at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Loren was born in Lakin, Kansas on September 28, 1945 to William H. and Mildred (Litson) Michel one of four children.
The family moved to the Simla area where Loren attended school, graduating from High School in 1963.
He was drafted into the United States Army on November 12, 1965 and he served his country with pride for one year, nine months and five days. Loren was very proud to be an American and the freedoms that he fought for.
When Loren returned home from the Vietnam War he returned to Simla where he worked at Simla Frozen Foods and selling feed before he began his custom spraying business continuing to spray for many years and for many farmers.
On August 3, 1968 Loren married the love of his life Nancy Bowker and the couple enjoyed 49 years together. They were blessed to have two children; Jodi and Jake. Loren loved being a dad.
Loren enjoyed hunting every season whether it was deer or elk he loved to be out in the mountains, trap shooting with his buddies and camping, taking many trips with friends. His family mentioned that he loved to go boating but he was the “Captain” not being fond of being in the water.
Loren was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Myrna Hertneky and Carole Evanoika.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Limon, Colorado and his children; Jodi Michel of Rhome,Texas and Jake and his wife Nikki of Calhan, Colorado along with his precious granddaughter Piper Michel. Loren is also survived by his brother Leon and wife, Bobbie of Bridgeport, Nebraska and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service for Loren will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, 1:30 p.m. at the Big Sandy School Gymnasium in Simla, Colorado. The inurnment will follow services at the Simla Cemetery.
