Obituary of Keith C Kvasnicka
Keith Charles Kvasnicka of Limon, CO was called home on March 21, 2017 at the age of 95. Keith was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who brought joy to those around him. Keith is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy Drummet, his parents and three siblings.
Keith was born in Haddam, Kansas on May 8, 1921 to Edward and Emma Kvasnicka. He graduated from Mahaska High School in 1939. He farmed in Mahaska, Kansas and married his high school sweetheart on October 22, 1941. On February 19, 1945 Keith enlisted in the U.S. Navy to do his part in WWII. He was discharged in April, 1946. Upon returning home from the Navy Keith and Dorothy lived in Narka, Kansas where he worked with his brother-in-law, Keith Drummet, at the Narka Grain Elevator. They moved to Mahaska, Kansas in 1947 and Keith continued farming and working at the Mahaska Grain Elevator. Keith left farming in1954 when he was offered a management position in Haddam, Kansas at the Haddam Grain Elevator. In 1956 he was transferred to Franklin, Nebraska to manage the elevator there. In 1958 he took a position as a manager with the Arriba Grain Company and later with Snell Grain. Keith enjoyed a successful career in the grain business and was widely known as one of the best grain men in the Kansas – Colorado regions. Upon retirement in 1986 Keith and Dorothy moved from Arriba to Limon, CO. where they enjoyed their many friends and activities. They traveled extensively and visited every state, always stopping to visit family and friends. Keith and Dorothy never missed an opportunity to go dancing. In 2005 they moved to the Preferred Resort in Pahrump, NV. They spent their remaining years there and enjoyed many new friendships.
Keith and Dorothy celebrated 71 years of marriage and had a beautiful life together, always supporting each other and their family. They were blessed with four daughters, Carol Moss of Laguna Niguel, CA, Sherri Grossnickle (Darrel) of Pahrump, NV, Joyce Vice (Brady) of Genoa, CO, and Judy Williams (Gene) of Pahrump, NV. Keith enjoyed a close, loving relationship with his eight grandchildren: Dallas Moss, Kimberlee Castro, Dana Stobbe, James Gilbert, Holly Rosler, Amanda Rohrbaugh, Stephanie Hill, and Tom Hill. He had three step-grandchildren, Brandie Grossnickle, Jamie Schulz and Jason Vice. Keith’s 28 great grandchildren are: Sabreena, Blaine and Champ Moss, Chandler and Chase Castro and Jonathan Chapman, Jacquellen Stobbe, Miranda, Josh, Matthew and Jacob Gilbert, Nicholas Hill, Cayden and Sydney Rosler, Cherokee Charlesworth and Chloe Rohrbaugh, Karleigh and Natalee Jackson, Olivia and Isis Hill, and step-great-grandchildren, Ty, Laci Scott, and Dallas Rohrbaugh, Steven Parker, Christian and Alyssa Schulz, Skyler and Aubrie Vice.
Keith’s family will cherish the many loving memories they shared with him, remembering his loyalty, integrity, and loving ways. Keith had a positive influence on his children and grandchildren and they will carry the many valuable life lessons he taught them by example. Keith will be laid to rest with his wife Dorothy in Mahaska, Kansas. There will be a graveside service at the Mahaska Cemetery on April 1, at 10:30 a.m. A reception at the Mahaska Community Center will follow.
