Obituary of Marian A Borden
Marian Ann (Dischner) Borden went to be with her Lord and Savior with her family at her bed side on October 22, 2016. Marian passed 13 days prior to her 89th birthday. She was born on November, 3, 1927 to Leo and Emma Dischner in Stratton, Colorado. Marian graduated from Stratton High School in 1945. She married Dean Borden on February 16, 1946 and from this union 8 children were born. In 1952 Marian, Dean and family moved to Montrose, Colorado where she was a housewife and a loving caring mother. Approximately 1958 the family moved to Olathe, Colorado, where the family purchased a 40 acre farm and did custom work for the community and surrounding area. Custom work included what was requested of farmers, ranchers and fruit growers to make a living. Marian grew a huge garden every year and successfully canned all that she grew with the help of her children. Usually we worked as a team and made an assembly line in preparation of the canning. Marian and her husband Dean, with the help of the children grew their own meat, vegetables and fruit. She taught her children the value of life and the love of God. She taught us many home steading skills like, canning, cooking and working long hard hours in the fields and garden.
Mom was proud to receive a flower or plant most every Mother’s Day by filling a church pew with her beloved children. Marian’s faith in God was very strong and challenged many times throughout the years. Further moves included, Grand Junction, Colorado where Marian was cook for the IBC College, Oberlin, KS where Marian and Dean were house parents for a children’s home and then moved back to Stratton, Colorado to complete the circle of life. After the death of her husband Dean, Marian moved to Burlington, Colorado. In April 2005, she moved into the Legacy in Burlington where she remained until February, 2016. Marian was then moved to Cheyenne Manor in Cheyenne Wells in February due to declining health. Marian loved her family and was a very industrious, thrifty woman and loved to joke around with friends and family. She was known as the Borden historian. Marian loved to sing, sew, crochet, ceramics, poems, canvas art, cameo painting and enjoyed the groups of ladies from various churches. Marian never complained and always said she could look around and find someone worse off than she was. Such an awesome woman and great mentor. MOM, MOMMA, GRANDMA and Aunt Marian you will be sadly missed by everyone.
