Obituary of Evelyn Bollwinkel
Lifelong Burlington, Colorado resident Evelyn Bollwinkel, age 93, died at her farm home north of Burlington on Sunday, June 8, 2008.
She was born Evelyn Ida Pischke on October 18, 1914 in Auburndale, Florida, the daughter of Gustav and Ida (Strube) Pischke. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was a lifelong member.
When she was five years old, her family moved to Stratton, Colorado where she attended grade school, the family then moved to Burlington, where she graduated from Burlington High School in 1933.
In May 1938 she was married to Claus Bollwinkel. They moved to their farm N.E. of Burlington in 1939 where they raised their three children, Janet, Jim, and Bill.
Evelyn was active in many different activities, she enjoyed reading, golfing and painting, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed the family gatherings during the holiday season.
Preceding Evelyn in death were her parents, her loving husband Claus âBlondyâ? in 1997, one sister Ruth Wells and two brothers Louis Pischke and George Pischke.
Surviving family members are her children Janet Dennis and husband Michael of Gilbert, AZ, Jim Bollwinkel of Denver, CO, and Bill Bollwinkel and wife Claudia of Burlington, CO. Also surviving is her sister Alice Boyles and husband Bud of Littleton, CO, four granddaughters Lori Catanach and husband Leo of Haskell, OK, Rhonda Appleby and husband Jerome of Roachdale, IN, Kelly Towey and husband Martin of Edmond, OK, and Kim Gumenberg and husband Kip of Glendale, AZ. One grandson Ted Pereboom and wife Susanne of Hillsboro, MO and eleven great grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. Pastor Bill Viergutz officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.
Visitation will be Thursday evening June 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Love Funeral Home, 377 15th Street, in Burlington.
Memorials may be made in Evelynâs name to The Trinity Lutheran Church and left at or sent to the Bank of Burlington in Burlington.
