Obituary of Lee Thompson
Longtime Stratton, Colorado resident Lee Dell Thompson, age 72, died Monday October 13, 2008 at Presbyterian-St. Lukeâs Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Lee was born November 2, 1935 in Diller, Nebraska to Harry C. and Hilda (Glather) Thompson. He was one of seven children born to this union.
On June 7, 1958, Lee was united in marriage to Kathleen Mary Wiedel at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, Nebraska. They had six children; Angela, Michelle, Richard, David, Rod, and Bruce.
Lee managed a grain elevator for many years. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton, the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post #138 in Stratton.
Preceding Lee in death were his parents, two brothers Max and Lynn Thompson, three sisters Betty Sitton, Bonnie Meyer, and Wilma Lange.
Surviving family members include his loving wife of fifty years, Kathleen of their home in Stratton. Their children Angela Brinkhoff of Stratton, CO, Michelle Cure and husband John of Idalia, CO, Richard Thompson of Gilbert, AZ, David Thompson and wife Kim of Eaton, CO, Rod Thompson and wife Paulette of Stratton, CO, and Bruce Thompson and wife Michelle of Stratton, CO. Also surviving is his sister June Vitosh and husband Milt of Odell, NE, nineteen grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and a host of many special friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the St Charles Catholic Church in Stratton. Fr. Ernest Bond, presider. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Stratton. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army, Ft. Carson, Colorado and by the American Legion Post #138, Stratton, CO.
Visitation will be from 6:00 â 8:00 PM Thursday, Oct. 16 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
A memorial fund has been established in his name at the Colorado East Bank and Trust in Stratton, and may be made to the St. Charles Building Fund or to the Stratton Ambulance Service.
