Obituary of Dr C. Beethe

Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident and beloved family physician of forty years, Dr. Raymond C. Beethe age 87, died Monday October 20, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Village in Ft. Collins, Colorado, his loving family at his side.
He was born Raymond Carl Beethe on October 28, 1920 in Lincoln, Nebraska the son of August H. and Anna (Zeeh) Beethe. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. Ray graduated from the University of Nebraska and then attended the University of Nebraska Medical School in Omaha, NE. He served his internship at St. Lukeâs Hospital in Denver, CO.
On December 30, 1942, Ray was united in marriage to Leona Maxine Pearson in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ray served his country in World War II as a physician. He entered the service in June 1943 and was honorably discharged in June 1945.
In 1948, Ray began his medical practice in Burlington that would last forty years, retiring in 1988. During his years in Burlington he served on various boards of directors including the Domestic Violence Board, Dynamic Dimensionâs Board, Trinity Lutheran Church, and close to 20 years on the Board at the 1st National Bank of Burlington (Currently Bank of the West). He especially enjoyed the time he spent on the District Lutheran Church Extension Fund Board. He also served several years as Kit Carson County Coroner.
Preceding Ray in death were his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty five years Maxine, of their home in Burlington. His three sonâs; Bud and wife Candia of Manitou Springs, CO, Scott and wife Jeanne of Fort Collins, CO, and Kip and wife Poppy of Denver, CO. Also surviving are his grandchildren Amanda Beethe of New York City, Clay Beethe of Anchorage, AK, Scott M. Beethe of Bozeman, MT, Anne Beethe of Omaha, NE and Sarah Beethe of Denver, CO. Ray is also survived by his sister Lorene Terpsma and husband Loyd of Lincoln, NE.
Funeral services for Ray will be Friday October 24, 2008 at 10:30 Am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. Pastor Bill Viergutz, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Burlington.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made in Rayâs name to the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital, or to the McArthur Senior Center both in Burlington. Memorials may be left at or sent to the Bank of the West in Burlington.
