Obituary of Alfred Linnebur
Alfred J. Alf Linnebur, age 86, lifelong farmer of the Byers area passed away January 2, 2009 in Denver, CO.
Alf was born on November 20, 1922 in Goddard, Kansas to Bernard Joseph Ben Linnebur and Apolonia Veronica (Elpers) Linnebur. In 1929, the family moved to a farm north of Byers, Colorado.
Alf graduated from Canon City Abby High School in 1942. Following graduation he returned to the family farm that he loved so much. Alf married Bernice Lorraine Fellows on June 16, 1956 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church in Strasburg, CO. To this union one daughter, Stacie, was born.
Alf was a member of Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byers, Colorado. He enjoyed attending farm auctions, collecting and restoring antiques, especially tractors, and agricultural memorabilia. In addition to farming, Alf was also a spray pilot.
Alf was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Emmett, James and Marvin, sister Dolores, and brother-in-law Matt Pelz.
Survivors include daughter Stacie and husband Gary May of Byers, CO, grandchildren Brandon May of Denver, CO, Stephanie and husband Josh Wood and their children Connor and Sarah of Berthoud, CO, Krista May of Bennett, CO, Veronica May of San Diego, CA, Grant and Theresa May of Byers, CO, siblings Gene and wife Shirley Linnebur of Byers, CO and Lloyd and wife Shirley Linnebur of Byers, CO, sisters-in-law Doty Linnebur of Roggen, CO, Susie Linnebur of Byers, CO, and Dorothy Linnebur of Strasburg, CO. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
