Obituary of Joyce Clark
Ruth Joyce Beck was born January 7, 1927 to Bliss Clark Beck and Louis Beck. She was born at the family farm just east of Stratton and departed this life on March 4, 2009 at her home here in Stratton.
Joyce and Gene Clark were married September14, 1952 in Idalia. They were married 56 years. They had four children; Paul Clark of Leesburg, Virginia, Ken Clark of Sterling, Colorado, Candi Spicer of Lakewood, Colorado and Bonnie Mattix of Riverton, Kansas.
Joyce and Gene have 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Joyce was a lifelong member of the Church of God. She played the piano for the church for many years. Her children remember being awakened by her practicing for church every Sunday. And on those days Gene had to make the bed.
Whether in Arizona or Colorado, Joyce could be found on the golf course. She made many friends on the course that continue to stay in touch.
When Gene and Joyce lived in the house on Main Street, the Clark household was a neighborhood meeting place. Many activities took place from BBQâs to the infamous chopping down of the Cherry Tree.
An empty place will be left in many lives with her passing.
Memorials may be made in Joyceâs name to the Stratton Ambulance Services and may be left at the Colorado East Bank and Trust in Stratton, Colorado.
Funeral services for Mrs. Clark were held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God with Michael Mattocks officiating. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial followed in the Claremont Cemetery in Stratton, Colorado.
