Obituary of Dorothy Burgess

Our family celebrates the loving and giving life of Dorothy June (Vielguth) Burgess. She passed on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Hugo, Colorado at age 81.
Dorothy was born December 28, 1927 in Claudell, Kansas to Carl and Cordelia (Fitzhugh) Vielguth. Dorothy had one brother and two sisters.
In 1946, two years after moving to Limon, Dorothy met Don Burgess. They were married on July 24, 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Don became the owner of the Don Burgess Plumbing and Heating in Limon and Dorothy was the owner of the Montgomery Wards Store.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Limon. She was a Cub Scout Leader and won den mother of the year honors for the state of Colorado in 1964. Dorothy enjoyed oil painting, bowling, sewing club, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, dancing, and attending her children and grandchildrenâs events. She was a wonderful bread baker and loved hosting friends and family. Don and Dorothy built a cabin in the Spanish Peaks near La Veta, Colorado and often invited friends and family to come and enjoy the beauty of the mountains they loved so much.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Opal Raymond, and Evelyn Benjamin, and one brother Earl Vielguth.
Dorothy is survived by three sons; Stanley and wife Jane Burgess of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gary Burgess of Limon, Colorado, and Dwight and wife Debbie Burgess of Grand Junction, Colorado, and one daughter; Linda Clement of Limon, Colorado. Also surviving Dorothy are twelve grandchildren; Jacob Burgess, Abbie Burgess, Olya Burgess, Wendi Jordan, Daniel Burgess, Kelli Speckman, Dylan Burgess, Jennifer McCart, Kendal Kelly, Stephanie Burgess, Jeremiah Ward, Misty Ward, Marji Ward, and fifteen great grandchildren; Trent Jordan, Teagan Jordan, Rhyse Speckman, Alexis Speckman, Allison McCart, Aspen McCart, Jackson McCart, Madison Kelly, Baylen Nickel, Kaeliona Nickel, Kanyin Forescas, Enyciea Forescas, Kurron Kenney, Kamdon Kenny, and Shaelynn Ward.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Limon United Methodist Church with Pastors Frank and Linda Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Pershing Memorial Cemetery in Limon.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon.
