Obituary of Helen Ancell
Longtime Burlington, Colorado resident Helen Clara Ancell passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Grace Manor Care Center in Burlington. She was 95 years old.
Helen was born on February 24, 1914 in Deep Water, Missouri to Seth T. and Lottie (Sadler) Duncanson. She was an only child. She attended school in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School in 1932.
On March 1, 1938, Helen married Omar Guy Ancell in Stratton, Colorado. To this union three children were born; Kenneth, Mary Ann, and Joyce.
Helen spent most of her life as a homemaker and raising her children. She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the RSVP Club; Federated Womenâs Club, the Home Demonstration Club and was very active with Meals on Wheels. Some of her hobbies included sewing, knitting and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one great granddaughter Tristan Rice.
She is survived by her three children Kenneth Ancell and his wife Carol of Houston, TX, Mary Ann Harrel and her husband John of Bethune, and Joyce Brown and her husband Floyd of Parker, Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Helen were held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Burlington United Methodist Church in Burlington with Pastor Tom Peacock officiating. Burial followed in the Vona Cemetery in Vona, Colorado. Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
