Obituary of Opal Einspahr
Opal Einspahr age 83, of Flagler, Colorado passed away July 20, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Opal Einspahr was born on December 29, 1925, to E. Russell and Mabel (Clark) Hubbard, at the family home near Leoti, Wichita County, Kan. She attended country school for six years, and later attended school in Leoti, Kan., where she graduated from high school with the class of 1943.
The family moved to a farm north of Flagler in 1943 and Opal worked for Winterowd Grocery Store until she married LaVern Einspahr on August 13, 1947. To this union was born Paulette, Loren, Keith, Jane, and Pamela.
Opal joined Zion Lutheran Church in 1947 and was active in church activities as well as in the community. She was active in school while their children attended Flagler Schools. Opal was the bookkeeper at LP Gas Service for 23 years, and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Flagler Cemetery Board for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern, of 45 years; five brothers, Vernon, Dean, George, Carter, and Leon; and two sisters, Nona Stransbury and Erma Dent. She is survived by Paulette and Dave Ahner of Dayton, Ohio; Loren and Ellen Einspahr of Farmington, N.M.; Keith and Cheryll Einspahr of Flagler; Jane Einspahr of Colorado Springs; and Pamela and James McKay of Akron. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Opal is also survived by her two sisters, Lola Droge of Seneca, Kan., and Lois Thompson of Seattle, Wa.; and one brother, Sidney Hubbard, of Stratton; and her sisters-in-law, Elbe Geer of Boulder, Elvera Mueller of Greeley, and Dorothy Einspahr of Webster City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor James Elmshauser, officiating. Burial will follow in the Flagler Cemetery. Her grandsons, Tim and Nick Ahner, Aaron Einspahr, Patrick and Kyle Einspahr, Joe McKay, Shannon Hawks, and Tad Eurich are pallbearers. Granddaughters Cherri Eurich, Paula Hawks, Liana Einspahr, Amanda McKay, Jen Thomas-Ahner, Vanessa Einspahr, and Morgan Sayles are honorary pallbearers.
