I was so sad to hear of Irene's passing but taking the time to re-visit all of the great memories I had of her were wonderful. That fresh baked bread at the school, Irene's kind words and thoughfulness will never be forgotten. I thoroughly enjoyed working for Irene at the school and later at the Donut shop, what a wonderful lady. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was one of the lucky girls who served lunch with Irene at the High School. She was a great cook and a great lady. I also grew up under her wing at the church. I have many fond memories of her bringing goodies to bible school. She always had a smile and a hug to share. I will miss her laughter in the church kitchen. May the Lord comfort you in your loss. with a smile, Joy (Borden) Walker

I was shocked to hear of Irene's passing. She was such a friendly, outgoing person. My brothers & sister, like many who grew up in Stratton, remember her from her days as a cook for the school district. When your family opened the doughnut shop, my Mom, Aunt Betty and myself always went there for breakfast, especially when Aunt Betty was in town. You all had Mom's & my "regular" order memorized, and would have Aunt Betty's and some of her kid's order memorized before they headed back to Kansas! What impeccable customer service!! My sincere sympathy to you all. May you be comforted by knowing Irene was loved and respected by all she dealt with. Mary Dischner

We fondly remember Irene, and that kind smile and friendly word whenever we chanced to meet. Many, many school kids were blessed by her example, as well as the great food she prepared for them.

What a shock to hear about Irene's passing. I have so very many fond memories of her---beings I've known her for so many years. Mom will really miss her too, as she ate with her 2 days a week at the Sr. Center. Irene will be loved by all who knew her.

We are so sorry for your loss. Irene was such a big part of our lives as she smiled from inside the kitchen at school. She put so much love in every meal she prepared for the kids. Don said he remembers his stomach growling all day whenever he smelled her homemade cinnamon rolls and breadsticks. Irene was one of the kindest people we knew. She never seemed to have a bad day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Most of my early childhood memories involve Irene and my mother visiting with each other. The Courtright daughters babysat my brothers and sisters and I. I am so sorry to hear of the death of Irene. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
