Obituary of Chester Abbott
Chester O. Abbott passed from this life on Tuesday, September 14, 2009 in Stratton, Colorado. He was 72 years old.
Chester was born on February 11, 1937 to Hovey J. Abbott and Murney L. Dykes Abbott in Burlington, Colorado. He attended and graduated from the Burlington School. Later he joined and honorably served in the US Army.
Chester worked in many job fields including auto mechanics and irrigation. He is fondly remembered as a âjack of all tradesâ? that willingly helped many in the Kit Carson County area.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hovey and Murney Abbott; three brothers: Josia âJoeâ? Abbott, William âEdâ? Abbott, and Francis Abbott; and two sisters Evelyn (Abbott) Schaal and Murney Abbott.
Chester is survived by one brother Hovey Abbott and one sister Sarah Abbott both of Burlington; four children: Lora (Abbott) King of Emporia, VA, Patrick Abbott of Wyoming, Kelly Abbott of Emporia, VA, and Robin (Abbott) Partridge of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren Teresa, Jerritt, Zachary, Abigail, and Nathaniel King of Emporia, VA and David Partridge of Richmond, VA, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Chester were held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 1:30 PM at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington with President Scott Angelos officiating. Burial with military honors was held in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington. Visitation was held on Monday, September, 21, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Love Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made in Chesterâs name to the Burlington VFW and may be left at or sent to the Love Funeral Home in Burlington.
